1923 Press Photo Mlle. Fanny Helde has tamed the famous French racehorse Ramus
The famous French racehorse, "Ramus" has been finally tamed by Mlle. Fanny Helde. Despite alll the efforts of Donoghue and others "Ramus" was recently left at the post in the race for the Goodwood Cup. "Ramus" has been the despair of backers for more than a year, both in England and France, and, thanks to the gentle hand of a woman, he has consented to start at last. Ramus has succumbed to the delicate handling of Mlle. Fanny Heldy, the well-known Parisian Opera singer, who, herself, has a string of champion horses, and who won at the races at Le Tremblay. Mlle. Heldy is also an accomplished horsewoman and often rides her own thoroughbreds at exercise at Maisons-Leffitte. She hopes to be extended the unusual privilege of a jockey license in the near future. Photo shows Mlle. Heldy, who tamed the "Ramus" where other crack jockeys of both sides of the canal, had failed. Photo measures 6 x 8.25 inches. Photo Is dated 1923.
