Presenting a delightful Mid Century Modern Australian Studio pottery dish created and signed Gunda by the Latvian-born artist, Gundars Zigurts Lusis.
This sleek, clean-lined Modernist piece was produced as a tourist ware souvenir for visitors to Merimbula.
The interior of the almost teardrop shaped form has been finished in a lightly textured flat matte grey coloured glaze with the trademark Gunda flat matte black to the underside. A series of raised glossy glazed polka dots in yellow, white and deep brown perfectly contrast the flat textured glaze below. A sgraffito waved line boldly inscribed into the surface of dish, separates the polka dots from the inscribed tourist destination, creating a harmoniously balanced yet wonderfully dynamic design.
SIZE: This piece stands approx 30mms tall, measures 95mms in length and 80mms in width.
CONDITION: This superb piece is presented in excellent vintage condition with just a couple of small, and incredibly shallow grazes to the glaze upon the rim as indicated in the images. These tiny grazes are near indiscernible to the touch and could be retouched by the new owner is so desired. This piece has been extremely well cared for and presents spectacularly.
MARKS: This piece is beautifully signed and numbered to the base "Gunda 62".
