Plane Model Backstory:

The Il-2 was the main Soviet attack aircraft during the Soviet-German war and was widely used in low-altitude fire support for the Army. Considered the best ground attack aircraft of the Second World War, it was a famous tank killer. The Soviets called them "flying tanks" and the Germans called them "Black Death." Stalin likened the machine to the Red Army's bread and air.
A total of 42,330 units of this aircraft and its successor, the Il-10, were produced, making it the largest single-production military aircraft in aviation history. By the time of the outbreak of the Soviet-German war, there were 249 aircraft, and a total of 36,000 aircraft were produced during the war, accounting for one-third of the Soviet Union's aircraft production.
