This is an original press photo. Construction of U.S. Atomic Energy Commission's Argonne national laboratory near Chicago, Ill., was speeded by use of factory-fabricated quonset buildings. Sections of framework, shipped in packages from the Great Lakes Steel Corporation's plant at Detroit, are shown being placed on waiting foundations. The project's 33 quonsets, covering more than eight acres (355,000 square feet), were erected in seven months.
