Half leather binding with maroon cloth boards, boards faded, dime-sized varnish? blotch on front, 8 1/2 x 5 1/2 inches, private bookplate (1898), former owner's signature (2011), (iv.), 360 generally clean pp. with tidemarks on the end papers and title page, rest clean, tight. Binder's blindstamped ticket on ffep, "F. W. Bailey, Portland." Small paper number label base of spine. Very good. Hardcover.

A Unitarian periodical; from 1845 to 1858 edited by Frederic Dan Huntington.

Frederic Dan Huntington (1819-1904), a native of Hadley, MA; first Protestant Episcopal bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of New York. He graduated at Amherst College in 1839 and at the Harvard Divinity School in 1842. He was a Unitarian at this time, and pastor of the South Congregational Church of Boston (1842-1855), and then preacher to the university and Plummer professor of Christian Morals at Harvard (1855-1860). In 1860 he left the Unitarian church, resigned his positions with them, and became pastor of Emmanuel Church in Boston. In 1868 he was elected bishop of the Diocese of Central New York (Episcopal), and was consecrated as such the following year.
