Very old part dinner service made by Barkers & Kent of Longton, Stoke on Trent. This company was only in business for a very short time under this name. They operated between 1889 and 1898. The pattern is called Garfield and this was produced in a few different colours but, in my opinion, the blue and white is by far the nicest! This the part of the dinner service that deals with the actual serving and not the dining experience. Although, oddly enough, there are six side plates included with this. It’s comprised of six oval serving platters in various sizes, one large and two small lidded tureens, two gravy boats and platters and the aforementioned six side plates. Measurements are approximately

Largest oval platter - 18” by 14.5” (45.5cm by 37cm)

2nd largest - 15.25” by 12” (38.5cm by 30.5cm)

3rd - 13.75” by 11” (35cm by 28cm)

4th - 11.5” by 9.75” (29.5cm by 24cm)

5th - 10.75” by 8.75” (27.5cm by 22.25cm) PLEASE NOTE there are two in this size

Large tureen - 13” long including handles by 6.75” wide and 5” high including finial (33cm by 17.5cm by 12.75cm)

Small tureens - 9” long including handles by 5” wide by 5” high including finial (23cm by 12.75cm by 12.75cm) X 2

Gravy boat - 7.75” long by 3” at widest by 4” high to highest point (20cm by 7.75cm by 10cm) X 2

Gravy boat/Tureen platters - just under 9.5” by 6.5” (24cm by 16.5cm) X2

Side plates - 7.5” diameter (19cm X 6)

Considering the age of this set condition is pretty darn good overall. Lots of the pieces are in very good vintage condition, there is staining on some of the pieces, the vast majority is to the reverse though. One of the small tureens has wear to the glaze on the edges revealing the earthenware body and a crack along the lid. The 3rd size oval platter has several large areas of glaze missing, again thankfully on the reverse. The side plates are in very good condition. The small oval platters or saucers, I thought, for the gravy boats. However, they fit perfectly under the small tureens as well so would suit either use. Please view the pictures carefully and satisfy yourself as to appearance and condition. If you need any more photos or information, please get in touch. This set is extremely heavy and would need to be shipped in at least two boxes to avoid damage.
