On offer are three important and very scarce books on mathematics by British Nobel laureate Sir Ronald Ross. The books (titles listed below) are each signed by Ross, inscribed to “A. J.” and dated June 6, 1931.

Sir Ronald Ross was a British medical doctor most well known for world-changing discovery that malaria was transmitted by mosquitos and being awarded the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine in 1902 (only the second time the prize was awarded for medicine). Ross was also the first British Nobel Laureate. His books on mathematics were published late in his life (he died in 1932) and are scarce on the secondary market, exceedingly so when signed.

The three books are

Solid Space-algebra: The Systems of Hamilton and Grassmann Combined (1930), 69 pages

Iteration by Explicit Operations (1930), 48 pages

Solution of Equations by Iteration (1929), 45 pages

All three volumes were published by Harrison and Sons, Limited
