A FIRST EDITION, early printing from 1967 (no statement of printing) of William Faulkner's only children's book, The Wishing Tree. The book was published by Random House and features the hauntingly beautiful illustrations of Don Bolognese. 82 pages. No book club mark.

*The Nobel Prize winner's only book for children, published posthumously. The copyright date is 1964, but the publisher's note at the end gives a publication date of 1967, and explains that prior to this 'only a single copy of this book existed', in typescript form, bound by the author and dated 5 February 1927.

This example has a price-clipped dust jacket, all-cloth teal-colored boards, and features gilt lettering to the spine as well as a greenish leaf design on the front board. Nice yellow top-stain.

The item is in very good condition. The dust jacket does show a few small holes and chipping here and there (please see pictures). The all-cloth boards still feature a vibrant color and are in good shape, although there is some sunning/discoloration to the top and bottom edges.

Spine has a very minimal forward lean and the binding is tight. All pages present, no tears, creases, or markings, save for two light soil markings on page 7 (see pictures). The dust jacket has been placed in a protective, archival-quality Brodart covering to ensure it will look great for years to come.
