Antique J Edwards Ironstone & Sons Large Pitcher Lavender Vine Pattern * Rare * Mid 1800's

Rare and collectible ironstone pitcher with a lovely lavender transferware with grape and vine pattern.

8 1/8" tall x 5 1/4" wide x 7 1/4" across including handle

Made in Dalehall, England c. 1850

James Edwards was born in 1805. He began working as early as 9 years of age, as his father was a pottery manager. in 1842 he began his own business, specializing in ironstone for export to the United States market. In 1851 his son Richard joined the business as his partner. James retired in 1861 and his son continued the business until 1882.

Excellent Condition - No chips or damage. Some discoloration and crazing inside, which are typical for a piece that is over 172 years old, still a beautiful item with a glossy finish. Small crack at edge, cannot be felt through the glaze
