Begović, Božena, Croatian actress, theater worker, writer and translator (Split, March 18, 1901 – Zagreb, June 10, 1966). She attended the acting academy in Vienna (1916–19). She worked in Vienna, Steyr, Dubrovnik and Zagreb, where in 1923 she appeared as Blanche in M. Begović's Wedding Flight. Year In 1926, she was the first announcer at Radio Zagreb, and in 1945, she was the director of Drama at the Croatian National Theater in Zagreb, where she later became a dramaturg. She is the co-founder and longtime manager of the Zagreb Pioneer Theater. She also directed. Wrote poetry, plays (Between Yesterday and Sutra, 1935; Lampioni, 1937), children's plays and dramatizations, the libretto for T. Sygietynski's ballet Night of the Faun, and essays (collected in the book Verse-Prose-Theatre, 1974). She translated from French and German and the works of Croatian writers (M. Držić, M. Krleža, etc.) into German.
