In the age of the atom, more and more children were born with strange abilities that set them apart from the rest of humanity. These people were known as mutants, and Professor Charles Xavier decided that he must make it his mission to shelter these mutants from society’s fears and teach them to use their abilities for the good of mankind. Thus, he gathered together the heroes known as the X-Men.
The original X-Men (Cyclops, the Beast, the Angel, and Marvel Girl) were eventually replaced by a new team in Giant-Size X-Men #1. That team, which added members Thunderbird, Nightcrawler, Colossus, Banshee, Storm, and Wolverine, would become a comic book sensation.
Readers should note that with issue #142, this series, originally known simply as X-Men (1st Series), officially changed its name to “The Uncanny X-Men."

Shipping Time
