A really cool version of the Club Bass from Hofner, the single cut big brother to the Violin Bass made so famous by the bass player for an English band in the 60s. This instrument is part of the Green Line from Hofner, made in Germany without the use of plastics and with wood native to Europe. The core of the build is an Apline Spruce top mated to flamed maple back and rims. The back on this one is particularly attractive curly maple, even and consistent across the instrument with the flame like movement we all love so. It is nice and clean, with little flecking but nice looking grain. It's enough to make the Les Paul playing guitarist in your band jealous! The neck is three piece maple/walnut/maple also using fine curly maple. The fretboard and headstock veneer are walnut as is the binding, heel cap, knobs, bridge, pickup ring, and pickguard. The fretboard dots and Hofner headstock logo are inlaid in maple and the nut is a 3 ply walnut/maple/walnut with zero fret.

The all wood construction is set off by the satin Green Line finish that Hofner uses, which give it a great tactile feel and improved resonance. It has the usual, short, 30" scale length and is currently set up with LaBella flat wound strings. The bass really achieves that plunky, yet warm and round tone we all seek in Hofner instruments. The controls are two volumes and a master tone, allowing you to dial in the perfect amount of attack from the bridge pickup and fullness from the neck. It truly sounds amazing through a quality tube amp, nearing an upright bass type of tone.

The bass is in really great condition, with light signs of handling and play wear. There is the lightest bit of tarnish to the hardware and some parts of the Hofner label on the back of the headstock have chipped away. Ships in an black case with black interior
