1969 Press Photo Midge Ivie demonstrates inflatable rubber car jack, Akron, Ohio
Jack and a "Jill" -- Akron, Ohio: Midge Ivie compares three-inch-high deflated rubber "jack" she's holding to an identical, but inflated twin, which sands 21 inches high. The jack, developed by the B.F. Goodrich Company, is safer and easier to use than the conventional metal jacks used for changing auto tires. The rubber jack provides a wider and steadier surface against the car and road. The two-and-a-half-pound one-piece rubber jack can be inflated in about one minute, using bottled gas or air. (Ohio) Photo measures 10.25 x 7.75 inches. Photo Is dated 1969.
