DESCRIPTION

The first edition. 

Very scarce. 

Illustrated with a monochrome frontispiece, headpieces and illuminated letters and three monochrome plates. Collated complete. 

This work was written by Clara de Chatelain, best known for her books of fairy tales which included original and retold stories. This work describes the adventures of a man who flies across the world upon a sedan chair. In the second story he visits other planets.


CONDITION

In the publisher's original cloth. Externally smart with minimal fading to the spine, a lean, slight rubbing to the joints and extremities and very small closed tears to the cloth to the head and tail of the rear joint. Prize bookplate from 'Miss Guest's Establishment' to the front pastedown with light marks to the endpapers. Front hinge starting after the frontispiece. Internally the odd plate disbound but present with signs of strain to the binding in places. Pages very lightly age toned with occasional spotting.
