SPAIN - OLD 5 PESETAS BANKNOTE - KING ALFONSO X  - Banco De España issue - issued MADRID 1954 - in crisp, clean and bright, almost UNCIRCULATED condition.

A Superb note.

SPAIN - SCARCE CINCO PESETAS NOTE - BANCO DE ESPANA issue - Dated 1954

Pick#146a4. The note is in Green on a light Lilac underprint on the face and in Green on a light Grey underprint to the reverse.

This smallish note has, at the right on the face, a portrait of King Alfonso X of Castille, Leon and Galicia (1221-1284), he reigned between 1252 and 1284.

The note is dated MADRID, 22 de Julio de 1954. There are three signatures on the face at the lower centre part of the note from the left they are - Joaquín Benjumea Burín, Conde de Benjumea,as El Gobernador (Governor), Joaquín Serrano García as El Cajero (Cashier) and Don Antonio Victoriano Martín Martín as El Interventor (Auditor).  The reverse has a Black and White engraving of the Biblioteca Nacional de España (The National Library of Spain) at the centre of the note. At the left hand side is a vertical Green cartouche which has a large figure '5'  at the entre for the denomination.

The Serial number is the sigle letter type H 6926771, which is at the top left and lower right corners on the reverse. The note is fairly small sized, measuring just 111 x 59mm.

This old small change banknote has seen almost no circulation at all, it is crisp, clean and bright, it has a slight bend at the centre vertically. The note therefore grades in superb, almost Uncirculated condition. Many would grade it as Uncirculated!

It is quite a hard note to find in this condition. Good catalogue value here as the note catalogues at $10 in Uncirculated condition - this example is just shy of that.
