The Book

This is a RARE 1st Print 1st Issue 1st State (1/1/1) of the 1st UK hardback edition published by Jonathan Cape in 1959

Gilbert A7a (1.1)

This is the correct 1st issue jacket, with the blurb for the book on the front flap.

The 2nd issue had multiple reviews of the book instead of the blurb.

The book is also the correct 1st State, with that small bit of extra detail blind-stamped to the crown of the skull.

A Near Fine book with minor pushing to spine ends and a slight crease to spine.

Slight toning to page edges.

In the bright unfaded and clean original 1st issue unclipped wrapper with the price of 15s to front flap.

Unfaded, bright spine.

Jacket is a little rubbed and has a very clean rear panel.

Minor fraying to spine tips. Minor wear to edges.

One small repaired tear to rear flap (see photo)

One of the cleanest jackets we’ve ever seen and possibly the tidiest on the market...

The Blurb

Auric Goldfinger is the richest man in England - though his wealth can’t be found in banks. He’s been hoarding vast stockpiles of his namesake metal, and it’s attracted the suspicion of 007’s superiors at MI6. Sent to investigate, Bond uncovers an ingenious gold-smuggling scheme, as well as Goldfinger’s most daring caper yet: Operation Grand Slam, a gold heist so audacious it could bring down the world economy and put the fate of the West in the hands of SMERSH. To stop Goldfinger, Bond will have to survive a showdown with the sinister millionaire’s henchman, Oddjob, a tenacious karate master who can kill with one well-aimed toss of his razor-rimmed bowler hat.
