This delightful vase has a sleek, clean-lined cylindrical body leading to a squat neck and lovely wide-flared rim.
A layer of encased cranberry pink spectacularly colours the fuss-free form, smoothly graduated from an intense pink to one side and fading gently to a delicate tone on the opposing side.
SIZE: This impressive piece stands approx 215mms tall, measures approx 65mms in diameter at the base and 85mms in diameter at the flared top rim.
CONDITION: This piece is presented in excellent vintage condition with no chips, cracks or repairs. There are some encapsulated air bubbles within the glass, a standard part of the hand crafting process but mentioned for complete accuracy, This exquisite vase has been very well cared for as a display item and presents magnificently.
MARKS: This fabulous vase we are offering for sale is beautifully signed to the base with Robe Knottenbelt's BCG mark and dated to the first year of production 1985.
THE ARTIST: Rob Knottenbelt is quiet achiever, however, his masterful skills as a glass artist combined with the fact that he is widely regarded as a pioneer in the contemporary Australian Glass movement has not gone unnoticed making his magnificent work highly desirable. There is no doubt Knottenbelt has been a leader in the Australian Glass Movement. He was the first person to commence work at the Adelaide Jam Factory in 1975 and has worked within the area of Contemporary Glass since then. He was also a co-founder of the National body for Glass Artists AusGlass. Moving to Victoria in 1983, Knottenbelt set up a private studio in the Yarra Valley in 1984 naming it Britannia Creek Glass.
