This very old hand made crucible was used in a forge to handle molten metals. Most of the industrial ladles I've had are unmarked, as is this one. Almost certainly hand made by a blacksmith, and the bowl sure shows signs of use and wear. This has developed a lovely patina with superficial rust, wear, and a history of honest hard work. Probably from the early 1900s, and this quite possibly could be older. Found at a estate sale in the hills of north western Pennsylvania.
This vintage ladle is a must-have for any blacksmith or collector of tools and hardware. This ladle is perfect for pouring molten metal in a foundry or forge setting. It features a long handle for easy pouring.
