6.5" tall with 6" catch plate

Bet you haven't seen one of these before from the early 20th Century. It's a condensed milk server. They would remove the top from the condensed milk can and put the whole can into this server and set it on the table for guests. Condensed milk was ladled into cereal bowls, into coffee and tea. The hole in the bottom was used by placing a finger through the hole to steady the can of milk as it was put into the server and also to pop it out of the server.  The lid hid the can. A serving spoon would have been set on the table or placed in the plate after use.

Because this is a used piece, much of the gilding on the handles and the edge of the plate or wherever the server needed to be cleaned, has come off.

But what a great item to complete your historical collection of this porcelain pattern of dishes.

This rare I. & C. E. Co. hand-painted Condensed Milk Server features a beautiful green oak leaf and acorn design with gold accents. The piece was created by the skilled artisans of Nippon, Japan during the period of 1900-1940. The bowl is made of porcelain and pottery and has a unique design that reflects the originality of antique pieces. This item is perfect for collectors of Asian antiques and those who appreciate the beauty of rare and unique pieces.
