Vintage Chinese Cheongsam Jewel Tone Temple Pagoda Brocade Qipao Dress

This vintage Chinese cheongsam jewel tone temple pagoda brocade qipao dress dates from the 1940s. It is made of a muted green jewel tone iridescent silk damask weave gold lame brocade fabric with woven picturesque designs of pagoda temples, tress, cherry blossoms, bridges and mountains. This traditional Chinese cheongsam dress has a form fitting hourglass style, is a long floor length, with a mandarin collar, short cap sleeves, side slit vent skirt, white rope knotted toggle closures going all the way down one side and is fully lined in a white nylon fabric. Manchu women early on wore a loose fitting one-piece dress which were called "qipao", transforming later to the more form fitting style "Mandarin Gown" popular in Shanghai during the 1920s-1940s becoming more influenced by Western fashion, fabrics and popular with tourists visiting as a souvenir. The dress measures 50 inches long, with a 34 inch chest, 26 inch waist, 36 inch hips and a 15 inch neck. It is in excellent condition. This is truly a wonderful custom made piece of Chinese cheongsam wearable art!
