Antique 19th c. Chinese Luggage Case Box Trunk Leather Lined Wood & Brass Lock
- For your consideration is an antique Chinese suitcase/luggage case or trunk
- Leather lined camphor wood with red-brown finish
- Brass hardware, elaborated and marked with Chinese characters using patination over the lighter color bronze
- Chinese characters stamp on the body, most likely of the owner
- Intricate, somehow puzzling lock, the shield like plaque with the key hole has to be pushed down and the latch opens
- Old flower patterned cotton fabric lined interior with a pocket for documents
- Circa 2nd half of the 19th century, Chinese
- All original, hard to find and very decorative!
- Measurements: Approx. 24.5 " x 14.5" x 8" overall
- Weighs about 7 lbs. 2 oz.
- Condition: Good/Very Good overall. Please see photos. All original. Old repairs to the leather at one bottom corner, slight discoloration to the fabric, minor tears here and there, a little evidence of inactive wood bugs, altogether commensurate with age and use
