Antique 18th  C.  Sugar Cutters Nippers / Nipps Wrought Iron Kitchen Tool , w Original Spring


  • For your consideration is a great early pair of sugar nippers
  • Blacksmith made wrought iron kitchen tool
  • Sugar cutters or nippers were important food processing tools. The sharp blades were used to break off pieces of compressed sugar cones before being pounded by a mortar into finer pieces. Sugar loaves were replaced by granulated sugar in the late 19th century, rendering nippers obsolete.
  • All complete with the original spring and latch
  • Circa 18th century, American, found in New England
  • All original

  • Weighs about 5 oz.
