Antique 19th c. Ship Lamp Lantern with Original Wall Bracket

  • For your consideration is an interesting brass lamp with its original burner and wall bracket 
  • The brass body is tick and heavy, designed to gimble on the bracket, therefore to be used on a ship
  • Would be mounted to the wall inside the cabin and be used with a glass chimney
  • The burner is well marked on the tumble wheel: "P & A MFG. Co *Waterbury Conn * Made in USA"
  • It is made by Plume & Atwood Manufacturing Co, which operated under this name in Waterbury Connecticut since 1871. They produced all kind of gas and kerosene lamps, burners and other lamp parts under many patents.
  • It seams like this particular burner could've been used with two wicks, thicker and thinner, see the 2 wick holes
  • The burner is on a screw cap that fits on the top.
  • There is a hole at the bottom of the lamp body, where a weighted hemispherical stand used to be attached (reference: West Sea Company web site item 18.13)
  • Circa late 1800's / early 1900's
  • All original

  • Measurements: Approx. 10" x 6" x 7.5" overall together, the lamp is with 4.5" diameter
  • Weighs about 2 lbs. 8 oz.
