Antique c. 1800 Creamware Nautical Plate w. Two-mast Ship & Trophies, British Navy Ensign Flag


    • For your consideration is an early Anglo-American creamware plate
    • Black transfer design depicting a majestic two-mast ship, a schooner or brigantine, at full sails in choppy open seas
    • Underneath a variety of nautical trophies and symbols are pictured: a British Navy ensign flag, a cannon, more flags, a trident, swords, barrel among others. There is also an angelical face, apparently symbolizing the beneficial winds
    • The borders are outlined with black bands
    • Marked at the underside with an impressed mark consisting of 4 triangles, in a circle. Most likely Herculaneum pottery of Liverpool (in operation 1793-1841)
    • Circa 1800, British
    • All original

  • Measurements: Approx. 9" diameter (across) x 1.25" 
  • Weighs about 15 oz.
