Antique 1803-1804 Ottoman Turkey Covered Bowl SAHAN Tin Lined Thick Shaved Copper w. Brass Finial #1
- For your consideration is an impressive very early 19th century covered dish
- A large shallow bowl (sahan), made of shaved thick copper, capped by a tall domed lid with lathe turned and shaped brass finial
- It has been plated with tin originally, which is now mostly rubbed off from extensie cleaning over time, exposing the wonderfully patinated copper
- There is some engraved marking at the bottom rim in Perso-Arabic, Kufic script, dating the dish to Hijri year 1218
- Circa 1803-1804, Ottoman Empire
- Measurements: Approximately 11.5" diameter (across) x 7.25" tall with the lid
- It weighs 3 lbs. 6 oz.
