CLINTON BURGESS

Harry Houdini

JAMES WILLIAM ELLIOT'S

Last Legacy

Circa 1921

DETAILS: Original handbill by Magician Clinton Burgess. Circa 1921. This handbill was published by Burgess for his upcoming book "Elliot's Quality Magic". Burgess later collaborated with Harry Houdinin on this work and changed the name of the book to "Elliot's Legacy". It was finally published by both magicians under the title Elliott's Last Legacy: Secrets of the King of All Kard Kings. Burgess was bitter when the book was published because Houdini ended up taking most of the credit for the work. Houdini even put his name on the cover in large bold letters (and omitted Burgess'). This handbill is the only known example of Burgess' efforts prior to Houdini becoming involved. Measures 8 1/2" x 5 1/2" inches.
