DETAILS: Two original albumen photos. Circa 1889. Both images are mounted to both sides of a single album page. The first depicts the German Navy gunboat SMS Adler after the great hurricane of 1889 off the coast of Samoa. Note the two sailors sitting next to the rear mast on the capsized vessel. The second photo is of a nearby village to where the military vessel sank in Apia Harbor, Upolu, Samoa. Measures 12" x 10" inches matted (9 1/4" x 7"" unmatted). Above image is of the photos.
