For 48 MAGIC, sponsored by Van Cleef & Arpels, Visionaire invited filmmakers and fashion photographers to supply video footage that would be compressed into lenticular cards — an artful take on a medium that had previously been used chiefly as novelty. MAGIC features startlingly beautiful video works by Sofia Coppola, Spike Jonze, Pedro Almodóvar, Gus Van Sant, Wong Kar Wai, Philip-Lorca diCorcia, and Mariko Mori, among others, and was made extra magical with the limited-edition, 18-karat gold Van Cleef & Arpels Alhambra charms that came embedded in each issue’s case.
