Mid 19th Century sailor studio photo from Shanghai gay man's collection 4x6

Mid19th Century

Brand new. Digitally edited and professionally re-printed on photo stock.

From a family estate of a gentleman's collection of gay and male related photographs and ephemera. Most items are from the early to mid 20th century and includes loose photographs as well as some pictures that were cut by the owner from an antique photo album.

Digital Reprint

4x6 photographic reprint of a cabinet card photograph of a young bearded sailor in his dark uniform. He is seated in a 3/4 view. The bottom of the card reads the studio name: Sze Yuen Ming & Co., Shanghai.

This photograph shows some of the foxing and toning that is present in the original print. I cleaned this up a bit but I didn't want the photo to look too pristine, and thus fake. A very nice presentation, reduced slightly from the original to a standard 4x6 size.

*Note that because of the enlargement from my scanner, the image shown here is slightly more blurry that the print you will receive.

A portion of the sales from my original prints are donated by eBay on my behalf to The Trevor Project. Their mission is to end suicide among LGBTQ young people. They offer crisis services, counseling, safe spaces and more. If you have the opportunity, search for online and watch the short film Trevor, on which this foundation is based.

*For this type picture, I made digital repairs to the original images and had them professionally reprinted. Each of these photos is labeled at the top of the listing as "Digital Reprint" to indicate that these are not the original prints of these images. They are also priced accordingly.

1 picture(s)  included as part of our description. Please examine carefully before purchase. If you have any questions before purchase please contact us here: we are very happy to help in any way we can.

Please note that inclusion in this gentleman's collection does not imply that the people in the photo are gay or bi. Perhaps someone in the photo was a friend, or maybe he just picked up the picture somewhere for his collection.
