100% GENUINE & Very rare

EXTRA LARGE WW2 ROYAL NAVY OFFICERS' GREATCOAT

Pilot - Sub-Lieutenant Aviation (A)

- made by the famous Moss Bros

Comments:

I sell a lot of greatcoats; and this is one of the nicest I have ever had and is TOTALLY original and untouched

The Royal Navy greatcoats are always several cuts above the other services in quality and fetch a considerable premium, as they are both better quality and presumably fewer made that the other the RAF & Army, ESPECIALLY the Royal Navy Fleet Air Arm however I believe the uniform was identical to the Royal Navy, apart from the epaulettes (or shoulder boards).

It is a VERY rare item

Coat Measurements:

Armpit to armpit: 22" (44" chest plus) see pics

NB This could very easily be made to fit a larger person, as the buttons will shift to one side to allow more room and there is LOADS of expansion to the rear if you move the belt button, as shown in photos - meaning this could be MUCH bigger if needed

Background:

According to the Imperial War Museum’s website - the letter ‘A’ indicates a member of the RNVR’s Air Branch.

The Fleet Air Arm was a branch of the Royal Navy that operated aircraft from navy ships. During the Second World War, aeroplanes became a key weapon at sea.

As you will see from some of the photos, these coats have also appeared in several films from Operation Mincemeat to Dunkirk

Condition:

In overall superb condition, totally wearable and with only very minor wear to the collar & minor mothing, which is shown in the pictures at the very bottom of the coat and not easily seen.

The buttons are all original and correct Kings Crown and the insignia on epaulettes are Royal Navy Fleet Air Arm of WW2.

REALLY EXCELLENT COAT & GREAT CONDITION
