IMPORTANT: I learned that this meter has an issue. The viewfinder is partially obstructed. When viewing the exposure information shown in the viewfinder can only be partially viewed and the scene can only be partially viewed. The meter is still measuring light and the measurements are shown on the LCD on the front of the meter. THIS METER IS BEING SOLD AS-IS. No returns will be accepted.

At the time I purchased this meter, I was deep into the Zone system using it to take readings and to make adjustments in exposure. With a 1 degree precision, it allows a photographer to hone in the the particular aspect of a perspective scene to take the most accurate reading possible. Its viewing mechanism (a telescopic viewer with zoom) allows an excellent targeting aid to take precise readings. Spot readings, incident light, and flash metering can all be handled by the light meter. A reviewer that rated the Sekonic L-608 light meter claimed it was perfect in all aspects. How many times have any of use read a review that was so complementary? Of the many pieces of photographic equipment I have used, this device rates at the top of my list of equipment also. Even as I device that first appeared in 2009, it remains a fine device for the amateur or serious photographer. Although no device or camera can take a "better" photo, this light meter will give you the information that you require to make excellent photos. Think about photographers like Ansel Adams and Edward Weston. These photographers used the zone system as a means to create excellently exposed images.Without a highly accurate meter such results would not be possible. I have been an amateur photographer for 59 years now and it is the one piece of equipment that I have never considered changing. I am selling this light meter at this time because I no longer have much opportunity to make use of the meter. It makes no sense to me to own such a meter and not use it. Whether you are an amateur photographer or professional you will find the meter an excellent tool in your toolkit to properly expose. your images.

The battery in the device is a new one. I am also including a copy of the user manual so that you have a reference for using the meter and can gain an understanding of its controls and the reading it produces. I won't kid you, there is a learning curve for using this device.

You are responsible to paying for shipping. In addition, I would recommend that you purchase insurance for the device given its cost. Please make sure that the shipping destination is being used in the calculation of shipping costs as in the past I have had the experience that eBay's interface sometimes makes errors when recording this information. Please note that this meter unlike many of the others that are listed IS NOT SHIPPED FROM JAPAN and also NOT PURCHASED IN JAPAN.

UPDATE: I've now included a photo of the internals of the light meter. Specifically, the viewfinder tube that runs from the eye piece to the end element. Notice that the viewfinder tube terminates in a small box. It looks like the two screws may open a panel to the internals of that small box, in which case it may be possible to see the problem. I could not find any documentation about this. If it doesn't sell soon I may check this out to see if the two screws allow the panel to be removed.
