This is an original, 1938, author-signed book by Lamar Middleton.  Lamar Middleton also wrote "The Rape of Africa", which was published in 1936.

The book is 313-pages long.  It discusses many rebellions that occurred in American history (see Table of Contents in pics).  "Rebellion, in other words, is the rock on which stands the American tradition of liberty," according to Middleton in this book's Introduction.

It has a very rare autograph by this author (only one I could find on-line).  It is also difficult to find definitive information about this author on-line, but Goodreads states he was also the author of "The Rape of Africa". (com/book/show/4859665-the-rape-of-africa)
