These hinges would be great for renovating an old house needing old cast iron hinges.

  • Signed hinges were the best made in the time period and the makers marked them with pride.
  • These hinges often were used for outdoor shutters
  • They were made from heavy duty cast iron.
  • These are in good condition with very little to no wear on the pins.
  • There are no cracks in them
  • These hinges are ready to go and swing for the next 100 years.
  • Good old cast iron is stronger and harder than the new soft reproduction iron of today
  • Likely cast in the last 1850's to the early 1900’s.
  • The casting is nicely textured like a set of cast hinges over 150 years should have
  • I stripped all the paint, wire brushed them and washed with water to prepare for paint
  • They are clean cast iron.
  • The hinges were cleaned and oiled to prevent rust
  • I added a few drops of oil to the pins so they will be ready to use.
  • They are ready for paint. Just wash with soap and water to remove the oil.
  • The hinges are marked G MAYER PATENT 4
  • They are 3" long at the pin
  • 4 3/8" wide laying open
  • 5/8” thick at the barrel when closed.
