With the Porsche 356 departing from the model lineup, the new 911 was finally making its way to dealership showrooms in 1965. A complete redesign to the classic Porsche shape, now fitted with a larger, air-cooled 2.0L horizontal 6-cylinder under the rear decklid offering 130 horsepower along with a 5-speed synchromesh transmission. It was beautifully sculpted and would remain embraced for many decades to follow! These early short wheelbase, long hood 911 examples are increasingly growing in popularity among astute Porsche collectors as the blue-chip investment to tuck away. Produced for just 3 model years without emission-regulated equipment, finding solid and original examples such as this one has become very difficult!

Offered here is a very well preserved 1967 Porsche 911 Coupe finished in factory correct Polo Red over Black vinyl interior with matching carpet. It features its original 1991cc Inline 6-cylinder engine (designated 901/6) displaying late production stamp #911090, mated to factory issue 5-speed manual transmission (designated 902/1). Features include standard hydraulic 4-wheel disc brakes, ZF rack-and-pinion steering, Bilstein shocks absorbers, 13mm front anti-roll bar, 15" steel wheels with new Nexen 165/80R15 radial tires, Bosch headlamps, leather-wrapped steering wheel, Fiamm air horns, front/rear lap belts, VDO green dial instrumentation, rubber floor mats, and aftermarket Pioneer AM/FM/CD player.

Porsche catered to customer requests for model options and introduced a 912 model in 1966, powered by the former 356SC 4-cylinder power plant as an entry level option. The standard 911 would be improved with Weber 40 IDA carburetors to replace Solex units, as well as improved Bosch ignition and 3-into-1 heat exchangers that same year. By 1967, a performance-inspired 911S variant would hit showrooms, and all models could now be purchased in Coupe or Targa form.

This Porsche 911 Coupe hails from California where it spent all its life, remaining with its most recent owner for the past 48 years! It would come into her possession in July 1976 after purchasing from a San Jose, CA police detective who owned it for 4 years, after his purchase from the original owner in September 1972. Having just 3 careful owners from new, it will come with all records and receipts dating back to 1972. It would receive its first engine rebuild due to slightly lower cylinder compression in one cylinder in October 1972 with reconditioned heads, honed cylinders, new pistons rings, clutch, axle boots, fluids, gaskets, etc. Once in the hands of the most recent owner, she would drive and enjoy it with routine maintenance until her first comprehensive rebuild in June 2002 by Sport Haus Inc based in Reno, Nevada. It has traveled approximately 6,000 miles since according to odometer records.

Recent servicing in preparation for sale included new radial tires, Dansk exhaust system, new hubcaps over reconditioned wheels, new door weather stripping, valve adjustment with fresh upper/lower valve cover gaskets, fresh engine oil with filter, carburetor tune, and new radio antenna. The interior remains remarkably original except for the new dash face metal trim and reconditioned steering wheel and horn ring. The exterior paint was refinished last in the mid-1970's, having recently received expert paint reconditioning and polishing. It continues to present as a high-quality driver offering no excuses to participate confidently at local shows and special Porsche events. Included in the sale will be an owner's manual, warranty booklet, one set of keys, and ownership records back to 1972. Please feel free to call for additional information or to schedule a chance to review it in person. Thanks for looking!
