Dell Vostro Windows XP Retro Gaming PC

This was originally a Windows Vista PC that has been ‘upgraded’ to Windows XP Pro SP3.

I have added a AMD R7 250 Graphics card which should be able to play any XP era game. Some games may need patches or specific driver versions etc, if something won’t load then Google may have the solution.

Scored 42072 on 3D Mark (default settings)

Comes installed with Office XP and Old School WIN Amp. Also includes a free game: Hitman Blood Money.

Hardware:

·         Intel Core 2 Duo E7500 2.93GHz CPU

·         XFX AMD R7 250 Graphics Card. 1GB GDDR5 128bit. VGA, DVI and HDMI ports (connect your monitor to one of these not the VGA port on the motherboard)

·         4GB DDR3 RAM (XP being 32 bit can only see 3GB)

·         480GB SSD

·         DVD Drive

·         6x USB

·         PS/2

·         RJ 45 Ethernet (XP hasn’t had security updates in a while and XP doesn’t come with anti-virus software so go online at your own risk!)

·         3.5mm Audio (If you use HDMI these will be deactivated and sound will come through your monitor or TV. If you have a monitor with no built-in audio then a HDMI to DVI adapter or USB sound card will be required)

·         Serial Port

The PC comes with a mains lead but no monitor or peripherals. Most old VGA, DVI or HDMI monitors should work, I’ve tested all the ports with an old ASUS monitor and it was ok up to its native resolution of 1080p. Some newer USB devices may not work due to lack of drivers / compatibility. Most old PS/2 and USB keyboards and mice should be fine.

No internal speaker so requires speakers or headphones. If HDMI is used then monitor / TV speakers will work (assuming your monitor has audio)

If you have never used XP before it isn’t as plug and play as a modern OS so a certain amount of troubleshooting may be required at times, if you are an old fart like me you’ll know that already ;)

It was built with off line gaming in mind. Please also be aware that services like Steam no longer support XP.

Any questions then let me know.
