This is a rare opportunity to acquire a Sunset Models Inc. 7mm O scale hand-crafted brass model of the famous Flying Scotsman A3 steam locomotive. It is particularly significant model in O scale as it was designed and built to 1:43 (7mm) scale for its USA-based developer. Sunset Models normally build their O scale brass locomotive product in 1:48 (1/4") scale. Here is a steam outline scale model that can be run on not only British layouts but also prototypically on US and Australian railway layouts. Firstly, in 1969, the preserved A3 Gresley 4-6-2 Pacific was shipped to Boston and ran in the States until January 1973. It came to Australia in 1988 for our Bicentennial celebrations and ran system-wide on tours until November 1989 when it was shipped home. The Sunset Models A3 is a fine example of brass fabrication in a detailed and accurate scale model of the preserved LNER Gresley A3 locomotive. The construction quality and level of detail provided throughout the model is consistent and robust. There is not much detail on a British steam outline model but on this 7mm Flying Scotsman it is all there. The reproduction of the LNER Green livery is masterful, so too the fine lining decals in their application. The model is fitted with fine scale polished wheels, motion and cab detail. Softly sprung buffers are fitted. The Gresley middle cylinder drive is nicely fabricated in this Sunset Models build. A Kadee style coupler can be easily fitted to the tender buffer beam.

Lifting the model to even greater desirability is the fitment of sound and smoke. QSi Quantum System Analogy and DCC Sound is fitted. The model is an exceptionally quiet and a smooth runner.

This is a rare opportunity to bid on a exquisite O scale 7mm A3 replica of the finest build and quality.
