For sale a very rare
BRIONVEGA TS 502
an iconic Italian design radio from ‘60s,
exhibited in the permanent collection of the
Museum of Modern Art (MOMA) in New York and in many other museums in the world.
It is a portable radio designed by Marco
Zanuso and Richard Sapper in 1962 and manifactured and marketed by Brionvega of
Milan from 1964.
The radio for sale is the 1968 edition, it
differs from the 1964 edition only for the FM frequency expanded from 104 to
108 MHz and for the tone button.
The radio for sale is in working condition
and receives stations loud and clear in both the AM and FM bands.
It works with 6 batteries (1,5 V D size) not
included or an external supply, a not original one is included (220 VAC – 9 VDC).
The two plastic cubes and the internal battery
box are in very good conditions, without scratches, cracks or damages and with
a perfect and brilliant color, the handle and the two black control panels are
in very good conditions.
The rod antenna extends fully.
The internal locking hook is missing on the battery compartment door, as shown in the photo, but it closes well
The radio is made of two cubes joined
together by hinges, with a wire passing from one cube to the other through the
hinges.
When closed, the dials are protected, and
the metal handle can be lifted in order to carry the radio.
The dimensions of the closed radio are
5 1/4 x 8 5/8 x 5 1/4" (13.3 x 21.9 x
13.3 cm)
