FIRST KING OF THE BULLDOGGERS

“BUFFALO VERNON:

Folks, here is “FIRST KING OF THE BULLDOGGERS” by Milt Hinkle and Claude Keema – a recital of the life and times of Buffalo Vernon who the author says was a wizard with the rope. “It would probably be safe to say that what he couldn’t do with a riata couldn’t be done. His act was perfected through countless days of practice, sweat and work, combined with an inherent deftness and talent, which all put together resulted in an amazing dexterity. The rodeo boys of the old days had a repertoire of tricks that were seemingly impossible and:

THE MASTER OF ALL WAS

BUFFALO VERNON

And to authenticate his status, the author recites a quote from Charles Wellington Furlong’s book, “LET ‘ER BUCK” which says:

“Bulldogging was first introduced into Pendleton by Buffalo Vernon. He bull-dogged at the first Round Up in 1910 for exhibition. And, at Cheyenne and the Millers Brother 101 Ranch in Oklahoma….”

Please read this and check out the massive index below for those cowboy and cowgirl stars of rodeo yesteryears. There were many a western story published – the common ones about Cowboys and Indians are listed on Ebay every day but the rarer ones about the little know cowboy who plied their trade in the rodeo rings of the old west like this one are seldom found. Collectors treasure them and their price guide value rises every day. They are hard to find. I hunt them out because really the better, untold and rarer stories were published in the rest.

Here’s one of ‘em.

Following my retirement, I have dedicated my remaining hours to indexing the Genealogy of our western pioneers. During my research, I discovered that thousands of our kinfolk lay unfound and unrecognized on some book dealer’s shelf gathering dust. Because Old Western History and Memorabilia was printed before computer indexing, I index every item I sell.

This complete index will be bound and included in this offering at no additional cost.

Humbly, I am trying to keep our history alive.

I hope you appreciate the effort.

While others clip ads from magazines, I save history. It’s a shame that our past is being lost. It’s as simple as that.

What a story, Rare Story!!! Great Pictures. You will love it as it was published in this old complete western magazine of many years ago. The issue is in excellent condition, the cover is pristine and in vibrant color.

As clearly stated in my description, this is featured story in a rarely found and seldom read unusual and complete western magazine. I don't give out name of publication or date because I have caught competitors copying my index and work and trying to sell it as theirs. I hope you understand.
