Description

This is a set of over 150 photographs of a car show that took place on September 3, 1955 in Mendota, Illinois at the annual summer Tri-County Fair.

These photos were taken by a local professional photographer who owned a photo studio in Mendota. He took the photos and most likely developed them himself. Each photo is around 4" x 5", and in good condition. Possibly all the entries in the show are represented, but I don't know this for sure, and I can not guarantee that every car mentioned below are included in this photos

Here is how the even was described in a local newspaper:
Over 100 Antique Autos Entered in Mendota Autorama
Entries of antique care have passed the 100 mark in preparation for the big Autorama which will feature the opening day of the Mendota Tri-County Fair, it has been announced. Cars are coming from points as far distant as Madison and St. Louis, and include an 1899 Locomobile Steamer, a 1902 Rambler, a 1903 Oldsmobile, and a galaxy of beautifully restored cars ranging from three Sears high wheelers and an electric up through the years including a fabulous 1930 16 cylinder Cadillac which was once the personal care of Samuel Insull. . . .
The event has attracted entries from top price winners of other meets, such as the 1902 Rambler owned by Richard Cox of Streator, which was the Illinois Fair Grand Champion last year. Also exhibited will be the 1953 State Champion, the 1908 Lambert owned by Ray Zuend of Dixon. Robert Lyon of Chicago is bringing in addition to his Locomobile Steamer, a 1922 Stanley Steamer. Bob Stenholm of Rockford will be present with is 1913 Stanley Touring, a prize winner in the Mendota Centennial meet in 1953 as well as elsewhere. Foreds are well represented in the entry list. . . .
