Byzantine lead seal of Theodore imperial protospatharios

(8th century) 

Lead, 27 mm, 10.1 gr, 12 h.

Obv.: Invocative cruciform monogram inscribed in the corners, resolved as, ΘΕΟΤΟΚΕ ΒΟΗΘΕΙ ΤΩ CΩ ΔΟΥΛΩ (Mother of God, help your servant), wreath border. 

Rev. Patriarchal cross on 3 steps in the center with decoration, circulat inscription between a double wreath border, +[ΘΕΟΔ]ΟΡ,Β,Α´ΠΆΡ,ΟΝΙΚ,Β,....(Theodore, imperial protospatharios and...).

 Earthen deposits, crack along the channel, otherwise Very Fine/Fine, as in photos. 

A rarest and seemingly unpublished seal, with historical interest!
