Here we have the desirable Toploader from our extensive inventory of Toploader 4 speed transmissions. Ford introduced the new style Toploader 4 speed transmission in 1964. It replaced the less durable Borg Warner T10. The Toploader is a heavy duty transmission built by Ford engineers to withstand high HP demanding motors. The Toploader gets it's name from having the access cover to the gears at the top of the transmission. 

These transmissions came with cast iron cases in early years and 2 basic gear ratios: wide and close. This unique piece is equipped with the shifter holes at the rear of the tail shaft and the the center to accommodate a wide range of applications! This unit has the capability to be installed in not only the Fairlane, but the Comet, Mustang and Cougar! This unit has the short input shaft associated with big blocks such as 390, 427 & 428, as opposed to the longer snout used on the 289, 302 & 351's.

The Toploader has been cleaned and inspected and we find no signs of welds or repairs. The internals are all in good working order and will perform as designed. This Toploader should be a bolt-in and enjoy piece for those that are in the process of replacing or adding a 4 speed transmission. The tag reads, HEH-CL signifying a 390 Fairlane with the heavier 28 spline output shaft. Somewhere in the life of this transmission it has been modified with a close ratio instead of the wide which was originally designated by the HEH-CL tag. The close ratio designation has a lower 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and Reverse ratios. 4th is 1:1 in both wide and close. We we see no reason why this unit will not please most if not all.

Shipping

Shipping is processed when payment is received. We usually ship via UPS. You must specify at auction close, which you prefer or it will be defaulted to UPS. Tracking number can be provided if requested.

Shipment usually takes 3 - 5 days from payment unless delayed. Delays are based on the order in which the payments are processed, complete information, touch ups (if necessary) and any special packaging needs. Occasionally shipments may be delayed due to car shows, or previous commitments. We strive to process your shipments as quickly as possible and will do everything possible to get your item to you as soon as we can.

United States Postal Service carries an additional $25.00 charge for package drop off at nearest station.

Sellers are not responsible for service transit time. Transit times are provided by the carrier, exclude weekends and holidays. Delivery times may vary with package origin, destination, size and weight particularly during peak periods.
