The Flying Fish Soap box racer!!!

This is our soap box racer as used in the colchester 2023 race.

It was loved by the crowd and we had lots of people wanting photos of it and kids sitting in it. It performed well coming mid way up the results field.

It can seat one or two people but we found it faster with just one.

It has foot steering and work brilliantly. Some races has since banned foot steering for some reason (colchester) so it would need adjusted if your race is the same. We were going to add a rest for feet and use the handle instead.

The fins, tail and bits all come off for easier transport.

Underneath is made from 2 bmx frames so it’s super solid. It’s now done two races, starting its life as Penelope Pitstop’s car. We then purchased it and converted it to the fish. If racing this year we had planned to paint it blue and make it a giant shark.

I just about managed to squeeze it into my estate car (Dacia Logan) but a van is probably much better.
