Height 9cm

Bottom 4cm

Made in 2000

There are stains on the surface. I made the purchase at Eiheiji.

I bought this earthen bell at Eiheiji temple.

Dorei are bells made of baked clay, which were used in ancient times to ward off evil spirits and to report fires, and now remain in many places as local toys. They are said to have originated in the Jomon period (710-794).

The sound of "earthen bells" made from clay soothes our hearts and minds, helping us to forget our busy daily lives.

When you put it in the palm of your hand and shake it lightly, you can hear the simple and gentle sound of clay. The design, shape, and sound of the bells also vary depending on the region of Japan. Why not add one to your collection?

1 cm = 0.03 ft.
