SASS SYYLE DESERT DPM COP VEST

A very rare piece of kit, and forerunner to the modern assault vests used by military forces. 

Styled on the Special Air Sea Services of Lancashire combat jacket style cloth in British DDPM.

No makers label but does sat Made in the UK ether HM Supplies or Magro - ether way I have never seen one before.

 This vest is piece of history and great for collectors/re-enactment or even for professional use. 

I still use my own one for jobs in the field. 

This vest would be a good bit of kit for bushcrafters, hunters, gamekeepers etc.

These type of vests were only made in small numbers by SASS, Magro and HM Supplies and have become sought after by both collectors and users in the field.

HISTORY OF THE SASS COP VEST

During the Falklands war, an Argentinian officer was captured wearing what appeared to be either a Hunting vest or Customised Pilots Vest - the FFD pouch was rumoured to be for his cigars!

During the post conflict kit evaluation, the idea of a load bearing vest was put forward and trialled by the British army. 

A number of COP vests were produced for special forces and intelligence gathering units, operating in Northern Ireland, where a more streamlined load bearing capacity was preferred over traditional webbing. 

COP Vests also saw limited use in the 1990 Gulf War and Balkans by SF.

These type of vests were only made in small numbers by SASS, Magro and HM Supplies and have become sought after by both collectors and users in the field.
