Dylan's Rolling Thunder Revue was a 1975-1976 concert tour with an evolving roster of musicians, including Baez, Elliott, and Neuwirth, as well as Roger McGuinn, Joni Mitchell, Mick Ronson, and others, which played smaller auditoriums and less populated cities with the intention of offering concert-goers a more intimate performance. The tour included 57 concerts in two legs, the first in the US northeast and Canada in the fall of 1975, and the second in the south and southwest US in the spring of 1976.

According to alldylan.com, "The evening gig on November 21 1975 has to be one of Rolling Thunder Revue (part 1) best concerts. ... When it was (finally) time for Dylan to officially release concert material from Rolling Thunder 1 ["The Bootleg Series Vol. 5, Bob Dylan Live 1975: The Rolling Thunder Revue," released in 2002], he picked no less than 10 songs from this concert [half of the songs performed]." The 2019 release "Bob Dylan - The Rolling Thunder Revue: The 1975 Live Recordings" included 19 tracks from the afternoon Boston Music Hall performance and the entirety of the evening performance.

In 2019, director Martin Scorsese, released "Rolling Thunder Revue: A Bob Dylan Story by Martin Scorsese," a pseudo-documentary of the tour which included outtakes from Dylan's 1978 film "Renaldo and Clara."
