DESCRIPTION

The first edition. 

Bound in crushed half morocco with cloth to the board, with a label to the front blank indicating that this book was specially bound through subscription by the publisher's and was not available to purchase from the booksellers. 

Illustrated throughout with a monochrome frontispiece, illuminated letters and over 200 pages of monochrome photographs. 

With an introduction by H. O. Arnold-Forster. 

This work provides a visual record of the Empire of Queen Elizabeth, with the book being dedicated to the queen. The work provides photographs and descriptions of the government, how the queen and her subjects travel, the homes and work life of her subjects and much more, creating a comprehensive sketch of the British empire lead by the Queen.


CONDITION

In the publisher's original crushed half morocco with cloth to the boards. Externally sound with slight marks to the rear board and significant marks to the front, rubbing to the extremities with a very small closed tear to the leather to the head of the spine and bumping to the extremities of the boards. Front hinge starting after the front blank. Internally, cords showing between pages 96 and 97, otherwise generally firmly bound with evidence of strain in places. Pages bright and generally clean with the odd handling mark and spot, heavier to the blanks.
