Before Hold-ups there were various designs that clung to the leg through elastication or weaving design but before Elastane. They are still dependent on the elastic working and so the advice still needs to be provided ...

We can never know for certain the conditions that our products have been stored in before they arrive with us

If the product has been stored carelessly then there is also an increased chance that the elastication may have perished to some degree

We can make no categoric statement on their condition without opening the packaging which we prefer not to do; selling as received wherever possible so that the integrity of the packaging is retained

We try to give as accurate a dating of the product as we can (our knowledge improves but it’s never perfect) so a judgement call can be made on the matter

We believe these are a late 1970s to early 1980s product

These were made in the UK

New in (somewhat damaged) packaging

There is heavy creasing from the promotion window downward and slightly less severe creasing also downward from the upper display window where there is also a minor surface tear to the card as part of a Shadow Label Mark

There are other lateral creases and a small nick to the card in the upper left corner of the promotion window

On the back of the pack there are evident dinks to the lower corners and further creasing below the upper display window and a plastic pocket attached to the left of the kind once regularly used by Debenhams to maintain stock tracing (but we can’t be certain they were sold by them originally)

Sizing is shown on the rear of the packet

Please do ask if you need advice on sizing

For presentation purposes this product may have been card mounted andmay need to be removed carefully to avoid damaging it

These days they are more typically wrapped around the card

We recommend bending the card centrally and then bending the lateral edges of the card over in on themselves so the raw card edges are not in contact with the hosiery

With a hand inside the hosiery and around the card stretch the hosiery gently while crushing the card as they part company
