This listing is for a piece of red-doped linen fabric from Amelia Earhart's customized Lockheed 5B Vega. The artifact measures approximately .5" across, and it's been attached to an 8x10" photo for display. This item also comes with a Certificate of Authenticity listing its provenance.

On May 20-21, 1932, Earhart flew this 5B Vega from Newfoundland to Ireland, becoming the first woman (and the only person since Charles Lindbergh) to fly solo across the Atlantic Ocean. A few months later, she became the first woman to pilot a nonstop solo flight across the United States, in the same 5B Vega. Several years later, the plane was fully restored so it could be displayed in the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum. During the restoration process, worn and damaged pieces were removed. Some of this fabric was eventually obtained by Ron Cole, the owner of an aviation museum and art gallery in Ohio. This fabric came from a larger piece purchased from Cole.

The COA accompanying this item includes photos of the original artifact, along with photos of your specific piece being removed from it. Please note that I have several of these for sale, and so you may not receive the exact item in the photos. However, you will receive one of an identical size, with the same type of documentation.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask. Thank you for viewing this listing!
