Scarce and unique routing on this cover and letter written during the Civil War on July 27, 1863 by Elmira Blight in Rockton, Winnebago County, Illinois and sent to her son David Blight in Virginia City, NEVADA TERRITORY. Elmira says she wrote long letters and sent them to David on his westward travels through Council Bluff, Iowa and elsewhere. Lots of good family content. Letter has an "UNCLAIMED" marking on the reverse, along with a Virginia City receiving (scarce to have Nevada territory markings!) Also an "Advertised" on the front with the Rockton, Illinois departure postmark. Franked with a Scotts 65 stamp.
