This is an amazing example of the Hermes 3000 typewriter, (serial number 3,190,041). Made in Switzerland in 1963. Extraordinarily rare condition, every function works. The condition is best described in the photos & in the video. The aluminum case has a few imperfections as seen in the photos, but has done a remarkable job of protecting the contents for over 60 years. While there is no key, the case operates well, closing, opening and latching properly as per the design. New replacement feet have been installed for a firm, solid grip on any work surface. The platen and paper rollers are original and without issue, and the print quality is just superb, delivering letters onto the paper at a rate of 10 characters per inch.

The Hermes 3000 is a very famous and popular machine among professional writers, and rightfully so. Its operation is as smooth as silk or butter, but no matter how accurate the adjectives to describe it may be, the Hermes 3000 has to be experienced in order to be fully appreciated and understood. It’s truly a Swiss-made typewriter version of the Swiss watch – everything about it is highly precise and consistently yields accurate results. If you are not at all familiar with the first-generation Hermes 3000 typewriter, you won’t have to research very far to learn lots about it. This one is all-original, has a freshly inked red & black nylon ribbon installed onto its metal spools, and is ready to write. All that is missing is a writing companion.
